A day at the Cricket…
I picked up my client Richard at 10.30. We don’t usually meet on a Tuesday but it is a bit of a change for Richard today as we are going to the Cricket.
We arrived at the Riverside Ground in Chester Le Street right on time and walked up to the ticket office. Richard is visually impaired so we asked which box was being used for the visually impaired spectators. On arriving at the box there were other visually impaired people that Richard knew, so it was nice for him to have a catch up.
Durham County Cricket Club
provide Audio description for certain matches, this is provided by volunteers who provide a running commentary of the game. Richard and his friends enjoyed the commentary through out the game.
As they broke for lunch myself and Richard went down to the restaurant where there was lovely sandwiches and hot drinks provided.
When the Cricket resumed it soon started to rain so we retreated to the Sheltered part of the box while we waited for play to continue, we were once again offered hot tea by the volunteers while we waited. The game continued once the rain paused. The match finished late afternoon with Durham winning by 6 wickets.
We thanked the volunteers for their kind hospitality and a most enjoyable day.
I drove Richard home who said he had appreciated his day at the Cricket
